About Tomax Building Service

The complete building package offered by Tomax is the culmination of nearly a century of experience between the three directors.

Stephen Tomlinson, Steven Atkinson and Michael Hazleden are all time-served tradesmen in electrical engineering, building and joinery. It is this breadth of knowledge and skill that makes their building service so complete.

The business started life in 1988 when Steve Tomlinson set up his own electrical engineering company after many years in the building/electrical trade working for other people.

Ten years later he joined forces with Steve Atkinson, who owned a joinery and building company, and they officially amalgamated in 1998.

The company went from strength to strength with larger and more detailed contracts coming in. This led to an expansion into shopfitting, office refurbishment and design – plus more and more commissions from building surveyors.

By 2004, as their reputation grew, it was obvious that the team needed to expand further to cope with the many contracts flooding in. So Tomax acquired Hazleden electrical contractors in 2004. Mike still works as a consultant on many of the larger, more complex jobs bringing decades of experience to the business.
